BTI CEO Chats with Prairie Farms
BTI's beginnings are rooted in Bucklin, Kansas and just down the road in Fowler Kansas, Prairie Farms was already established. Prairie Farms is owned and operated by Dale and Jeff Zortman just North of Fowler, Kansas. Prairie Farms was homesteaded in 1884. This history runs long and deep as Kelly Estes, CEO, and Dale Zortman sit next to each other. Both Kelly and Dale remember when Dale's dad bought machinery from Kelly's dad. Fast forward a generation and Dale has bought equipment from Kelly. Fast forward another generation, and Jeff has bought equipment from Jeremie Estes, Kelly's son. It is clear that both BTI and Prairie Farms believe in their businesses as a family legacy and somehting they hope to see be around for even more generations.
A lot of the conversation centered on technology and the importance of adopting it early. The Zortman's have always been early adopters of new technology to improve efficiencies on the farm. Jeff wants to continue that path for the future of the farm as technology becomes even more integrated in the operation and becomes more of an investment.
We have enjoyed our time with our customers this year celebrating our 75th!
