BTI Provides Local FFA Scholarship Opportunity to Deserving Students
INDIANAPOLIS (National FFA Organization) – The National FFA Organization awarded a $1,000 scholarships to five deserving High School Seniors in the BTI territory. All five student were active in their local FFA chapters and are continuing their education in agriculture at 2 and 4-year institutions. BTI's 2020 scholarships were awarded to:
- Joshua Brown of Kiowa County High School. Joshua plans to attend the Tulsa Welding School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- Ryan Durr of Bucklin High School. Ryan plans to attend Pratt Community College and major in Wildlife Management.
- Mackenzie Birney of Bucklin High School. Mackenzie plans to attend Kansas State University and major in Animal Science with the Pre-Vet option.
- Gabe Ellis of Bucklin High School. Gabe plans to attend Concordia University in Nebraska and major in Animal Science.
- Brock Montgomery of Skyline High School. Brock plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Animal Science with a minor of Ag Education.
The National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation have awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to 1,493 recipients, thanks to the generosity of individuals, businesses and corporate sponsors. This year marks the 35th year for the scholarship program, which began in 1984 with 16 scholarships offered. Since then, more than $50 million has been awarded through National FFA scholarship funds. The selection process takes into account the whole student, including FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience, community service, leadership skills and academics.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to more than 700,000 student members who belong to one of the more than 8,600 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
