Preparing for a Service Department Visit
Agriculture is vital, fulfilling work, and it can’t be done nowadays without a variety of heavy equipment and agricultural machinery. Unfortunately, as robust as that equipment is built, it will still require regular visits to your preferred service department. We here at Bucklin Tractor & Implement want to help you navigate those trips, so we’ve put together a few tips for preparing for a service department visit, below. To learn more, or to schedule a service appointment for your tractor or other equipment, contact any of our six stores throughout Kansas, today!
Schedule in Advance
Life is busy and hectic, especially in the last few years. With that in mind, it’s best to schedule your service visits well in advance whenever possible. Of course, emergency repairs are sometimes a necessity, but you never know how busy a service department will be if you show up without an appointment.
To figure out when to schedule appointments for, check your owner’s manual. It will point out the systems that require professional servicing and how often. The “when” is usually after a specific amount of time, or after a certain number of hours of usage.
The Right Department
It’s important to note that different service departments will have different processes, priorities, and specialties. Sometimes that results in differences in pricing, average customer satisfaction, and expertise, so if you don’t have a preferred location already, do some research in advance to ensure you get the experience you want. It’s also obviously important to go to a service department that specializes in the vehicle or equipment you need them to look at.
Check out online reviews, keeping in mind that while individual reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, consistent trends can be very informative.
Make a List
It’s easy to get caught up in the moment or to forget small details when the appointment comes, so it’s important to create a list of all the concerns and questions you have beforehand. You don’t want to remember something after the appointment is through, after all!
Expectations
When you make a service appointment, most departments will give you an approximate estimate for how long the service will take based on their experience and the job in question. Keep in mind, however, that that estimate isn’t necessarily set in stone. Staffing issues, unexpected complications in the machine itself, and any number of similar issues can cause setbacks and delays in the process. Just remember that the staff are doing their best to get your equipment back up to speed as soon as possible.
